1. Operator and scope
PhotoToPC is provided by RYOTA UEMATSU (the “operator”). Please read these terms before use. The handling of personal information is described in the separate Privacy Policy.
The web app is free to use. Communication charges, device costs, and fees for external services you choose are borne by you. The price of the iOS and macOS apps is as shown by their distributor.
2. Purpose and conditions of use
The app captures, imports, and organizes photos, videos, PDFs, and notes, and transfers them to a device you choose. It does not provide online storage or automatic synchronization between devices.
For work use, follow your organization’s rules on devices, storage, and sharing. Use the app on devices you are authorized to use. Minors should obtain the consent of a parent or guardian where the law requires it.
3. Rights in photos and records
Rights in your photos and records remain with you or the rightful holder; using the app does not transfer them to the operator. The operator does not use them for advertising or for training AI.
Handle photos that contain other people’s information with the consent and authority required. Check the content and the recipient before sharing or transferring. Removing names or editing an image does not guarantee that a person can no longer be identified.
4. Storage and backups
Photos and records are stored on your device or in a folder you choose on a PC. The operator keeps no copy for recovery. Records can be lost through device failure, lack of free space, or deletion of the app or site data, so back up important records elsewhere as well.
You are responsible for the passphrases and recovery keys used for encryption. The operator cannot reissue them or open encrypted data if they are lost. Before you stop using the app or delete data, move the records you need to another location and confirm that they open.
5. Transfers, exports, and external tools
Transfers between devices happen directly between the devices, on your action and with the receiving side’s approval. A receiver can choose to save transfers from a registered device without approving each one. Do not show the connection number or QR code to anyone other than the intended recipient. Both devices must have the app open, and some network environments do not allow transfers.
Data that has been transferred, exported, shared, or copied is managed by you at its destination. Changing or deleting the original record does not affect copies you have passed on.
The AI request feature only composes a request text for you to copy or save; the app never sends photos or records to an external AI. If you let an external tool open your storage folder, check what that tool sends and where.
6. Prohibited conduct and rights in the app
Unlawful capture or use, infringement of others’ rights, unauthorized access to devices or data, distribution of malicious programs, and excessive load on or interference with the service are prohibited. The operator may restrict problematic traffic to protect the service.
Rights in the app’s software, screens, and names belong to the operator or the rightful holders. Third-party software is subject to its own licenses.
7. Conditions of service and changes
Available features and limitations depend on the OS, browser, device, network, and free space. Loading and updating the app and establishing a transfer connection require a network connection.
The service may be changed, suspended, or ended for maintenance, to address defects, or because of circumstances at external services. Changes or termination that significantly affect use will be announced in advance on the site where reasonably possible, with regard for your opportunity to retrieve your data.
When these terms change, the changes and their effective date will be announced on the site. Where the law requires individual consent, it will be obtained.
8. Warranty and liability
The operator works to keep the app operating properly and to address defects, but does not guarantee operation in every environment, uninterrupted or error-free service, permanent storage of data, or the success of every transfer or restore.
The operator’s liability is governed by the Civil Code, the Consumer Contract Act, and other applicable laws. These terms do not limit liability for intent or gross negligence, or any rights of users that cannot be limited by law.
9. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without excluding mandatory consumer-protection provisions that apply to you. If a problem arises, please contact the address below. The operator will discuss it in good faith; if it cannot be resolved, it will be settled in a court with jurisdiction under applicable law.
